FLUXCORE PIPE WELDERS (St. Mary's Parish, LA) and 3G AND 4G TIG PIPE WELSERS - COPPER NICHOL (Lockport, LA)
These positions require the ability to do all phases of layout and burning. Must be able to work from prints with minimum supervision. Must keep all work areas clean. Physically lift and carry items weighing 50 to 100 pounds. Work will be in all elements. The noise level in the work environment is usally low to loud. Must be able to know how to use a torch, burn a clean straight line, wash the weld and read measuring tape. Fluxcore Pipe Welder positions are located in St. Mary Parish, LA. 3G and 4G TIG Pipe Welder positions are located in Port Fouchon. Positions are located in a shipyard setting doing major and minor marine repairs.

Minimum Skills and Abilities: Capable of helping to supervise a crew of welders. Certified in 3G and 4G in at least 3 or more of the following disciplines: flux core, short arc, aluminum, aluminum heliarc, stainless steel, and submerged arc. Able to make a full penetration weld that will pass NDE Testing (i.e., x-ray, ultra sound, magnetic particles, dye penetrant). Able to lay out track marks, Able to identify most commonly used welding symbols. Able to gouge. Supervise a minimum of five (5) workers.

Required Certification: Certified in 3G and 4G in at least 3 or more of the following disciplines: flux core, short arc, aluminum, aluminum heliarc, stainless steel, and submerged arc.

Essential Duties and Job Functions: After receiving work order, a welder must first obtain the appropriate tools need for a particular job and subsequently set up their equipment. Bind together structural metal components that have been pre-assembled and tacked into place. Perform good, cosmetic, sound welds. After completing the weld, the welder will examine his/her work and may chip off excess weld, slag, and splatter with the appropriate tools (i.e., grinder, chipping hammer, etc.). Leave little or no rework when job is complete (i.e., cold rolls, pin holes, wraps, burn through, etc.). Troubleshoot his/her equipment. May gouge to remove a member, make a seam sound, remove weld reinforcement, etc. Must be able to work in confined/enclosed spaces. Must be able to work/climb in elevations greater than 5'. Must be able to wear/work a respirator when applicable. Must follow all company policies and procedures. Other duties assigned or requested by Management. Work overtime as required. Report to work daily and on time.

Qualified Candidates Need Apply Only! Must have a minimum of 3 years experience and be able to pass an on-site craft skills test, pre-employment drug screen, OSHA respirator FIT test and PFT medical evaluation.
